just a quick note to say that fest is just TWO DAYS away and we will be closing ticket presales tomorrow evening!

if you're traveling from out of town, we highly recommend securing a ticket beforehand in case things sell out at the door.

This Friday (1/27) is the last Ladyfest benefit show! An evening of experimental and noise music at the Washington Street Art Center

the lineup includes Donna Parker (last show in Boston), Citizens for Confetti (Linda Aubry Bullock, on Sedimental Records), Undeveloped Piles (Amy Mills!), Pataphor (Shannon Smith) and Avoidance (Chris Strunk of many different bands and Noell Dorsey of Beutiful Weekend, Guillermo Sexo, Katze, and many other projects).

We're excited to announce this workshop that will take place on Saturday, February 4th of Ladyfest. Bring ideas, share stories, leave with resources.

Workshop Title:
Resource Overview and Strategizing Session: Supporting Survivors of Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence in
Your Community.

Description:
Sam Chaplin (Domestic Violence Advocate, Safe Passage) and Christopher Logue (Staff Attorney, Casa Myrna Vazquez) will be leading a discussion on ways to support folks who are currently experiencing or have experienced sexual assault, domestic/dating violence and stalking. They will be comparing legal system responses and resouces to community accountability measures. This will be a discussion that encourages knowledge-sharing and dialogue, and all are welcome to contribute to the talk. Please bring stories, strategies and issues you've encountered while combatting sexual assault and d.v. in your communities. You will leave the workshop with plenty of resources as well!

We can't believe it, but there's just one more month until Ladyfest Boston!

Despite the fact that fest is creeping ever nearer, we have awesome things happening all of January at the Washington Street Art Center in Somerville.

Ladyfest is looking for 3-4 official poster designs! We are having posters professionally printed thanks to our good friend Ryan. These will be in full color, 11"17, niiice and fancy looking. They'll go up all over the city, and will also be for sale at the event! So a good chance for you to get your work out there.

Ladyfest would like to invite you to participate in “Adventures Close to Home: a Feminist Artist Auction and Exhibition” presented by Ladyfest Boston and Snow Project at the Washington Street Art Center!

We are inviting local artists of any gender orientation who self identify as feminists to show and auction their work during the month of January at the Washington Street Art Center. We are asking that artists donate one piece to a silent auction and exhibition that will take place throughout January. Profits will go to Ladyfest. Those who support Ladyfest’s cause and wish to become part of a wonderful, supportive community of other creative feminists, please join us!

Drop off dates for work are Saturday Janurary 7th from 12-5, and Sunday January 8th from 3-8.

Dear artist friends,

Ladyfest would like to invite you to participate in “Adventures Close to Home: a Feminist Artist Auction and Exhibition” presented by Ladyfest Boston and Snow Project at the Washington Street Art Center. -The opening for the show will be on Friday January 13^th from 7-11. We will have Ladyfest committee and guest Djs, snacks, beer, and a lot of fun!

We are also planning a screening of “Who Took the Bomp?: Le Tigre on Tour” at the Washington Street Art Center for Sunday January 22^nd at 4. With a suggested door donation and free popcorn. The auction will be open to all who attend the screening.

On Saturday January 28th we will be hosting a noise/experimental show showcasing local bands. Again, the auction will be open to all who attend.

Since we are auctioning off the work, we ask that each artist contribute small works that are appropriate and relevant to the event. We reserve the right to reject works if they are deemed inappropriate for the event, but there is no formal jury process and we hope to include everyone who would like to be involved.

At each of these events Ladyfesters will be available with event info and a table showcasing Ladyfest merchandise, and locally made comics, patches, pins, zines, and other crafty stuff for set prices. If you would like to contribute any merchandise for this cause please contact us.

The auction will be a silent one, and each piece will have a “buy it now” price for folks who would like to reserve the piece and close the auction on it. We are asking artists to start with prices set at $15, $30, $50, $75, $100, $150, and $250. Bidding will go in increments of $5 or more, and we will let artists set their own “buy it now” prices. Bidding will take place only in person and we have technology available to allow credit card payments on site.

hi everyone!

warm greetings from one of the many ladyfest HQs, here with lots of exciting news and information!

firstly, confirmed events:

we're hosting a lot of these to

1. raise the money we need to put on an incredible 3-day fest, featuring music, workshops, dancing, singing, vegan and vegetarian food, and more!!

2. aid in building a community of feminists - this includes ALL folks who identify. all are welcome to participate, contribute, and speak their piece. (best way to do THAT is to contact us at boston dot ladyfest at gmail!)

10.31: is halloween! we're hosting a riot grrrl cover show at charlie's kitchen! more information can be found here!

12.9: LFB teams up with the Coolidge Corner Theatre, a non-profit movie theater that features indie films and cool events, to bring you

a midnight movie event!

From the Back of the Room

a film that documents the involvement of women in the DIY punk community. reviews have been great and we can't wait to see this!

there will be bands, too. more on that shortly!

this date is subject to change

1.13.12: LFB and the Washington Street Art Center bring you a feminist art show called "Adventures Close to Home" and this night is the show's opening!

on that night there will be drinks! ladydjs! and fun!

the exhibit will be up throughout january, and all paintings are for sale via silent auction.

we're working on a pre-fest workshop series!! these will run from mid-november throughout january, and will be BOTH informational and craft-based.

in either november or december, LFB and Lorem Ipsum Books will host a panel discussion of feminist filmmakers who will also show their works. this will be a super fun event with refreshments!!

what else are we doing?

a bunch of us have been spending time over at occupy boston to see how things are shaping up! definitely happy to report that there now exists a women's caucus! for tons of information, email OBwomen at gmail dot com.

we've also been booking the actual fest!

alice bag, legendary LA punk, will speak and read from violence girl, her recently published book. this will happen on february 5, the last day of the fest! OMG indeed!

Please come support Brian Hart at his Lorem Ipsum gallery opening tomorrow evening!

The event starts at 7pm in Inman Square, and at 10pm he will be raffling off one of his paintings. (Check out the Facebook event here for full info). Besides being a really fun event on its own, Brian will be donating all money raised from raffle tickets to help fund Lady Fest. (Thank you, Brian!)

Raffle tickets are available for now at Lorem Ipsum ( $2 for 1 or $5 for 3) or by emailing Brian here. They will continue to be on sale until the drawing at 10pm tomorrow night.
